Morbi Tiles See Back-to-Back Price Hikes; 100% Advance Payment Now Mandatory

The Morbi Ceramic Manufacturers Association has announced a 10–20% price increase across tile categories effective June 1, 2026 — the second major hike in under 30 days. Wall tiles have risen by up to ₹30 per box, while GVT and vitrified floor tiles are up ₹3–₹3.30 per sq ft. The May hike was also in the 15–20% range. Both corrections follow a near-45-day production shutdown triggered by the gas crisis linked to West Asia geopolitical tensions, which doubled propane prices from ₹55/kg to ₹100–120/kg and forced 400+ Morbi factories to halt operations. Alongside the price revision, manufacturers have enforced a 100% advance payment policy before dispatch – a significant departure from the credit-led model the trade has operated on for decades.

What this means for the trade: Dealers holding pre-crisis inventory have a short window to capitalise on margin gains, but those dependent on fresh replenishment must revise project quotes immediately and get ahead of customer conversations before delivery.
