Housing sales across India’s top nine cities rose 19% year-on-year to 1,12,458 units in Q2 2026, with new supply jumping 43% YoY to 1,17,609 units, according to PropEquity. The south and west dominated: Bengaluru led with 47% YoY growth at 21,516 units and a 71% surge in new supply to 24,340 units, while Hyderabad recorded 22% growth at 14,410 units alongside a 75% rise in fresh supply. Navi Mumbai emerged as the fastest-growing western market at 61% growth to 11,029 units, with Mumbai up 32% to 10,561 units. Chennai added an 18% rise to 6,323 units, making South India the clear engine of Q2 residential demand. Delhi-NCR and Kolkata were the outliers — Delhi-NCR sales fell 14% YoY to 10,082 units while Kolkata declined 23% to 3,414 units.
What this means for the trade: South and west India are where the housing volume is moving — sales teams and dealer-onboarding priorities for H2 FY27 should weight Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai territories more heavily than NCR and Kolkata this cycle.
