India’s ceramic tiles market has reached USD 11.30 billion in 2026 and is forecast to hit USD 16.70 billion by 2031 at an 8.12% CAGR, according to Mordor Intelligence’s January 2026 report. South India is now the fastest-growing region at a 10.24% CAGR through 2031, driven by IT-corridor residential expansion and industrial construction across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. West India retains the largest share at 35.37%, anchored by Morbi’s 800-plus manufacturing units. Within the market, porcelain tiles are the fastest-growing product segment at 11.33% CAGR — with large-format slabs up to 1,600mm × 3,200mm gaining traction in luxury residential and commercial projects. The organised sector currently holds 46% of the tiles market and is projected to reach 55% by FY29, with Kajaria leading at 17% organised market share, followed by Somany and Prism Johnson at 9% each.
What this means for the trade: South India is no longer a secondary market – brands without a structured dealer development plan for the region are already playing catch-up on the fastest-growing opportunity in the industry right now.
